Educational Leadership and Curriculum and Instruction tracks
Three-year cohort-based model for meaningful peer-to-peer connections
Mostly asynchronous format with optional high-touch synchronous sessions
Augusta University Online’s Doctor of Education (EdD) in Educational Innovation is a three-year, cohort-based program designed for working professionals who want to lead transformative change in education.
Students choose from two tracks — Curriculum and Instruction or Educational Leadership — then progress together through a lockstep curriculum. Throughout the program, you’ll collaborate with peers and faculty and focus on real-world problem solving, policy analysis and practitioner-driven research.
Unlike traditional PhD programs, this EdD is specifically designed for professionals who want to remain in practice, equipping you with practitioner-based leadership skills to advance in K-12, higher education and educational policy, as well as nonprofits and community-based organizations.
Analyze and navigate local, state and federal education policies to influence meaningful reform
Augusta University Online’s EdD in Educational Innovation is grounded in the Carnegie Project on the Education Doctorate (CPED) model, which places strong emphasis on practice-based leadership. You’ll learn how to do the following:
Apply research-based methods to identify, investigate and address complex problems of practice
Lead with a deep understanding of culturally responsive practices and the social impact dimensions of education
Develop and evaluate innovative solutions through iterative, practitioner-focused research
As part of the program’s practitioner-focused approach, students will work collaboratively or individually to complete a dissertation that tackles a real-world problem of practice in their educational setting. Through applied research and iterative inquiry, they’ll design, implement and evaluate solutions that lead to meaningful, evidence-based change.
Supportive faculty are committed to high-impact practices that stimulate positive learning and innovative research.
The curriculum equips students to lead with empathy and evidence — preparing you to drive systemic change at every level of education.
Students progress through a three-year, cohort-based model, forming learning communities that foster peer support, group dissertation work and lasting professional networks.
